Internationally recognised as one of the best tenors in the world
Juan Diego Flórez started out at a very young age singing and playing Peruvian music, as well as pop and rock songs. His debut was a real success and set the stage for a stellar career. That very same year, at the age of just 23, he made his debut at La Scala in Milan, directed by Riccardo Muti for the opening of the 96/97 season. Since then, he has been constantly performing in the world's most important theatres and concert halls alongside internationally prestigious directors.
Juan Diego Flórez has an extensive back catalogue of solo records, as well as complete operas on CD and DVD. The BBC listed him as one of the best tenors in history, and he has racked up numerous awards and distinctions, including the highest distinction in Peru, the Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun. In 2022, Juan Diego Flórez was appointed as the Artistic Director of the Rossini Opera Festival.
In August and September 2022, the youth orchestra that represents the Sinfonía por el Perú programme on a national level completed its first tour in Europe with Juan Diego Flórez, performing at the Salzburg Festival, the Gstaad Menuhin Festival and the Lucerne Festival.
